“I tested the Jones Solution on the slopes and in the backcountry and really loved the stability; especially the carving came as a surprise. I didn’t try hitting the jumps, though! In Powder I didn’t need to lean back very much, the snow was pretty fluffy, though, which always makes it easier. For a split-board, it really holds and is forgiving with mistakes, cuts through the rough stuff and stays on course while tuning easily. First I needed to get my head around the Karakorom Prime One binding fixing plates, which was a bit complicated, but once the stance was right, it was easy to fix the binding on top of it.It’s important to do this in the dry, so nothing can happen while you are in the snow. Because, if you realize on top of the hill, that the binding is not exactly right, it is very hard to change, when snow gets into all the little parts.”

GRV Statement on environmental and social performance:
Jones Snowboards is the most aspiring and inspirational brand, when it comes to split-boarding. The founder and A-List celebrity snowboarder and movie star Jeremy Jones shines the torch against climate change and has made sure, his boards are in line with what he stands for. Made from FSC certified European wood cores, recycled edges and recycled ABS, an eco-plastic top sheet, a flip-flop base to reduce p-tex and, very importantly, bio wax to save the environment from the direct contact with PFC’s, the board is a good example of healthy business practice.
The backpacks are PVC free and contain recycled fabrics. PVC is a well-known plastic. When it is hard, its no problem, but in its more subtle form, like often used in bags and packs it has some hazardous and carcinogenic plasticizers, so the absence of PVC is a real plus. Jones apparel collection features GOTS and Organic blended certified cotton, recycled polyester and water based inks. Jones Snowboards gives its website audience a good insight into their supply chain, by mapping out where which parts are coming from. And this is mostly environmentally and socially low risk countries like Germany and Austria, when it comes to the boards.
As the originator of POW (Protect our Winters) Jeremy Jones has a very important role as an advocate for the environment and gets involved in grass root and international campaigns against climate change. In general Jones could improve on its strategic environmental management with standardized reporting and the use of Life Cycle Analysis and/or other tools to understand their environmental impact better and therefore continuously reduce it.
